Pretty Serious Stud Muffin Review

Colour

Stud Muffin by Pretty Serious is a bright, classic red that has a pinch of orange. It’s a great hue to wear to nearly any occasion, and while it adds a pop of vibrancy, it’s not overly flashy or wild.

I love wearing a red lipstick with red nail polish, and then a monochromatic black outfit. It’s more dramatic that way, and sometimes it’s the simplest pairing of colours that makes the biggest statement.

Finish

When you wear more coats of this polish, it appears like a creme, but because it doesn’t look flat, I’d say that the finish is more of a jelly-creme finish. It’s translucent, which makes it wonderfully shiny! (Even before applying a top coat, your nails look exceptionally glossy.)

You can see your visible nail line, due to the finish, but it can be built up with more coats, if that’s not your jam.

I used three coats, and it covered well. You could slightly see some of the nail line in person, but it was hardly noticeable from a normal viewing distance that I didn’t feel the need to wear a fourth coat.

Since the first coat is translucent, you can apply a glitter nail polish on top, and then a second coat of red over the glitter to create a Glitter Sandwich Manicure. The glitter will peek through in the most beautiful way!

Application & Formula

Stud Muffing by Pretty Serious has an ideal formula because it’s silky smooth, and it flows nicely onto your nails. It also self-levels, which makes it one of the easier formulas for beginners to use.

Also, when I removed it, I didn’t get any staining (but of course I used my favourite base coat of choice, which is really a nail strengthener – OPI Nail Envy.)

Ingredients & Animal-Friendliness

Those who are making conscious shopping choices will be pleased to know that Pretty Serious Cosmetics’ nail polishes are vegan and cruelty-free.

Additionally, they don’t contain any Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, or Toluene.

Pros

  • Bright red with a pinch of orange
  • Super smooth formula
  • Jelly-creme finish
  • Translucency means that you can layer it with glitter to create a Glitter Sandwich Manicure
  • Opacity can be built up with multiple coats
  • Vegan & cruelty-free
  • No Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, or Toluene

Cons

  • Red isn’t the most original nail colour (however, not every shade has to be unique)
  • If you don’t shop online, getting your hands on Pretty Serious Cosmetics nail polishes can be very challenging

Final Verdict: 8/10

The timeless red, the finish, and the easy-as-pie formula are all reasons why I’m giving Pretty Serious Stud Muffin such a high score!

I appreciate the simplicity of red nails, even though when I was younger, red nails were something I thought I’d never sport. My how times have changed, right?

If you’re just starting to build your nail-polish collection, a red is a staple, and this is a great, fuss-free one to enjoy!

What’s your go-to red nail polish? Which colours do you consider ‘staples’ for any nail-polish collection?¬†

      Hey Melissa!

Hehe, the power of red nail polish compels you! ūüėČ

I’m not usually into red polish, except for in December and during random times when I want to switch it up from blues, greens, and purples for a pop of colour. A traditional red is so easy to wear – it’s a no-brainer!

      Hey Sasha!

Red is such a classic, so I understand how it enters the collection of many nail-polish enthusiasts. Plus red is very easy to wear for nearly any occasion. Makes sense!
