My true love is nail polish in case you couldn’t already tell! But I do wear eye shadow nearly every day. Typically I wear grays, blacks, greens, and teals. And I always wear them as a smokey eye look.
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted an Eye of the Day on here (January – yikes!), and the Maleficent-Inspired Purple Eye Look I did that you’ve seen as my Twitter and beautylish profile pictures was done way back in October 2010!
This called for a personal challenge! Time for me to step outside my comfort zone and to try an Eye of the Day that I’m sarcastically calling Clown Eyes. (Maybe you could use this look for Hallowe’en this year with bolder colours?)
I used mainly yellow, blue, and pink, all from the NYX Eyeshadow Trio Team Spirit palette, as well as a few other items. (I’ll be swatching and reviewing this palette soon.) Continue reading
I realized that it’s been a long time since I last posted an Eye of the Day look.
So…here’s lookin’ at you, One-Eyed Willy! (Do I score any points with fellow fans of The Goonies? Hehe, I remember having a crush on Mikey when I saw the movie as a kid.)
This is a typical look that I sport very frequently because 1) I’m always rushing in the morning (Jeremiah was a tardy bullfrog) and 2) These colors go with a lot of different outfits.
Grays and blues are eye-shadow soulmates. Continue reading
Red and green are the traditional colors for Christmas. And since I previously reviewed a NYX Eyeshadow Trio palette (Perpetual) not long ago that included both of these shades, I decided to challenge myself and create a holiday eye look with it.
Red eye shadow is tough to pull off unless you’re a goth or you’re in costume. So I did my best with what I had.
Do you think I pulled off this green and red eye look? Don’t think it’s bold enough? Think I could’ve added more colors? Let me know – I’m all ears!
This purple Eye of the Day was inspired by the MAC Venomous Villains Collection, but in particular the wonderfully evil Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty! She’s my favorite Disney villain – love her name, her voice, her attire, and even how she turns into a badass dragon at the end.
You can imagine my disappointment when I learned that the MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Duos that I really wanted contained Bismuth Oxychloride (an ingredient my sensitive eyes are highly allergic to). As far as I know, all MAC eye shadows contain that ingredient.
So I figured that since I can’t join in on the fun with that product, at least I can join the Venomous Villains party by creating my own Maleficent-inspired purple Eye of the Day look using non-MAC products. Continue reading
I call this eye look Techno Trees because it’s what I picture robotic trees on Jupiter would look like.
Seeing the photos now, I realize that I should’ve blended the brown into the green more. Was rushing that morning…and it shows.
Green and brown is a color combo I’ve liked for a long time – even my home decor is green and brown!
There’s something very earthy about this look, but instead of being hippy, it gets trippy with the flashy chrome finish. Continue reading
Let’s go green together!
Here’s a simple look you can create that literally takes under 5 minutes.
I’m a beginner when it comes to using eye-shadow brushes to blend the colors, so I was pleased with how this turned out – colorful, but not too loud. Can’t wait to try more complex and bold eye looks. Hopefully with a lot more practice, I’ll get better…and you can follow me along on my eye-shadow journey! Continue reading
