Red and blue is one of my favourite nail-colour combinations because there’s so much contrast, and it always reminds me of Wonder Woman.
(Haha, when I wear this combination, I think to myself, “I am Wonder Woman!” It’s funny how nail polish can do that to me.)
So when I was looking in my Helmer for what to pair with Rainbow Honey XOXO from the Sweet Talk Collection, my eyes darted from drawer to drawer, seeking out a strong blue. (I ended up choosing Zoya Song.)
You could layer this over so many different shades, but I was in the mood for something in-your-face, and this combination certainly fits the bill.

Rainbow Honey XOXO Review
XOXO by Rainbow Honey is a really fun polish because there’s red and glitter that seem to reflect the light a lot and show various colours. I think there are even some holographic pieces mixed in there!
What’s really cool is that the base is clear, which means you can layer this baby over any nail polish without worrying about transforming the colour. These kind of polishes are very versatile, and you’ll have a lot of fun experimenting with different combinations.
While I chose to put it over a bold blue, you could get a completely different tone-on-tone look if you layer it over a red. And consider putting it over black to create dramatic contrast. The possibilities are only limited by the boundaries of your imagination!
(I wonder how it’d look layered over and under various glitters!)
This glitter polish didn’t feel scratchy, even before I applied my quick-drying top coat. Then, with a single layer of top coat, I got a relatively smooth surface that wasn’t absorbed (or ‘eaten’) by the base nail polish the next day.
Since I’m not really into wearing this kind of glitter solo, I wore only one coat layered. This also helped make the removal much easier. However, you could try wearing several coats of it by itself, but I think it would be challenging to remove.
Application & Formula
Since the glitter was suspended in a generous amount of clear nail polish, I found it was easy to glide onto the nail. Plus it was actually thin (without being watery). I was expecting it to be really goop-y and was so surprised it wasn’t!
I didn’t have to manipulate the glitter by using the brush to deposit it where I wanted. I painted my nails as though this was a regular polish, and all the glitter went on pretty evenly.
Final Verdict: 9/10
XOXO by Rainbow Honey is a fun indie nail polish that I know I’ll be playing around with again and again to create all different kinds of looks!
What would you layer this polish over? Have you worn any Rainbow Honey nail polishes? Are there any indie brands that you’re loving and would recommend I try?
