Indie nail polishes hold a special place in my heart, and I especially have a soft spot for Pretty Serious Cosmetics.
(You’ll remember that Kaz/Karen made my dreams come true by collaborating with me and allowing me to design the nail-polish of my dreams!)
On Monday evening, I came home from work to find nail mail containing the new Pretty Serious Rooftop Soiree Collection for Holiday 2014! Naturally, I had to snap photos like a polish paparazzi to share with my lovely readers.
The Pretty Serious Rooftop Soiree Collection consists of 6 stunning shades that capture the feeling of a celebration in a bottle.
Cocktail Bar (the teal/green) got my attention instantly, but I also really adore Moments Til Midnight (the blue) because I have nothing like it in my stash.
Daphne After Dark is also really interesting because it’s full of colourful glitter without looking clownish. It’s dark and mysterious, which is really sexy!
When I opened the box filled with the festive Pretty Serious Rooftop Soiree Collection, I went straight to the red (Red Carpet Treatment) and painted my nails with it that very night. It’s a great Christmas red that’s so glam and not a typical red.
(When I looked at my nails in different lighting and at various angles, I could see purple, blue, and silver. Sometimes, I thought I could see green reflecting! Predominantly, it’s red, but it has those interesting colours subtly included that make it stand out from other red glitters I own.)
It’s going to be a tight squeeze, but I’ll do my best to include an in-depth on at least one of these polishes before Christmas.
(It’ll probably be on Pretty Serious Red Carpet Treatment since I’m wearing it now. The past two mornings were so dark, and I couldn’t snap natural-light photos. I’m waiting for Mother Nature to cooperate with me. After all, I only have the mornings to take photos in natural light because it’s before I head off to work, and by the time I get home, it’s dark in the evening. Haha, nail-blogger problems!) 😉
There are six colours in the Pretty Serious Rooftop Soiree Collection:
- Cocktail Bar
- Daphne After Dark
- Glitz & Glamour
- Invitation Only,
- Moments Til Midnight
- Red Carpet Treatment

Pretty Serious Cosmetics always has special limited-edition boxes that make owning their nail polishes even more special! 🙂
(I’ve been asked by readers before if I keep the boxes or not. YES! I keep all my Pretty Serious nail-polish boxes because I like the unique artwork. They’re fun to collect, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into each design.)
When you turn the box over, the design continues, and I really love how Pretty Serious Cosmetics doesn’t just put decorations on the front and back. It spans all around – love the attention to fine details!
Description from the Pretty Serious website: “Cocktail Bar is a beautiful teal green jelly with a bubbly mix of green and blue glitters throughout. I love how jam packed this is with so many different complimentary glitter shapes and colours. Call me crazy, but if there’s a blue drink on the menu I’m probably going to order it and I would definitely order this beauty at the cocktail bar!”
Daphne After Dark
Description from the Pretty Serious website: “Daphne After Dark is a variation on our incredibly popular Daphne’s Birthday Party shade with multicoloured holographic glitters in an inky charcoal base. While it still manages to capture the fun, party essence of the original, Daphne After Dark is much more understated, but still incredibly eye catching!”
Glitz & Glamour
Description from the Pretty Serious Cosmetics website: “Introducing our stunning silver and gold flake combo – Glitz & Glamour. Originally just a blingy silver flake, we thought it needed a little something extra, so we added delicate little champagne gold flakes and the result is breathtaking.”
Description from the Pretty Serious Cosmetics Website: “Invitation Only is an incredibly complex shade. This gorgeous metallic grey has colour shifting pink and green particles as well as micro holo. Yes, that’s right. We finally made a holo!”
Moments Til Midnight
Description from the Pretty Serious Cosmetics website: “Moments Til Midnight is a dark blue jelly packed full of golden glitter shapes, like a night sky exploding with stars. This isn’t your typical night sky shade. Moments Til Midnight takes the night sky polish concept and turns it up to 11!”

Red Carpet Treatment
Description from the Pretty Serious Cosmetics website: “Red Carpet Treatment is a festive red jelly with multi sized red hex glitter, plus silver & purple/blue iridescent mini hex. RCT is definitely Viscous Vampire’s bright, energetic, party girl younger sister!”
