The March 2012 Topbox is the 3rd month I’ve tried, and while I do like the products I’ve received, I still feel like it’s overshadowed by the November 2011 edition. (They had a full-size Deborah Lippmann polish and also a full-size Cake Beauty hand cream!)
In my March Topbox, there was a good variety of items to test out, and this time I’ll be able to use everything.
I was particularly pleased to see that there was some nail polish and also a Make Up For Ever product.
I much prefer the March Topbox to the February Topbox!

March 2012 Topbox Review
I dig the plain tube that Topbox uses to ship the samples. It’s clean, simple, and environmentally-friendly, which is huge in this day and age. As much as I love cute packaging, it makes me feel good when I support companies that see the bigger picture and care about the future of the planet.
And it’s not like environmentally-friendly has to be ugly. They still decorated the tube and included purple tissue paper and little crinkly paper inside.
This month, I can use every single product, so I’m pretty happy. And this time, Topbox has provided 5 samples instead of the usual 4.
That being said, I noticed that the only real premium brand included was Make Up For Ever. Still, though, I was overall pretty happy with the products included this month.
Make Up For Ever Sens’Eyes Waterproof Sensitive Eye Cleanser
I was excited to see this item because I haven’t had a chance to try too many Make Up For Ever products (mainly because they’re pretty expensive). Also, I have sensitive eyes and I do wear eye makeup all the time, so this is a sample that I’ll use.
Redken Color Extend Shampoo & Conditioner
Since I don’t have dyed hair, I can’t properly test this out. And I wasn’t jumping up and down to see that instead of a bottle, there were just single-use packs. (I find them slippery and inconvenient to use in the shower when your hands are wet.) But, it was nice that Topbox included 2 samples of the shampoo and the conditioner.
Mark Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain (Frilly FrouFrou)
Have you ever tried a lip stain before? I haven’t. I’m curious, but a little nervous, too. Because it’s a stain, it means that I won’t be able to easily just wipe it off, right? It’ll stain the skin a bit, I’m guessing. So if it’s a colour I’m not in love with, I may have to walk around with it for longer than I want…or I’ll have to cover it up with lipstick.
The name for this colour made me laugh – Frilly FrouFrou doesn’t exactly describe me…hehe! 😉 But I think the colour itself will be interesting to wear. I haven’t worn anything quite like it because, in the past, I’ve played it safe with neutrals.
Mark Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquers (Violet Daze & Tickled Pink)
WOO HOO! Being a nail junkie, of course you know that I was ecstatic to receive not one, but two, nail polishes in the March 2012 Topbox! 😀 And this is from a brand that I’ve never tried anything from, so I’m curious to see how the polishes will wear.
Violet Daze is a majestic, shimmery purple that seems totally up my alley, and Tickled Pink is cute, but I tend to have trouble pulling off pinks. This one’s purplish pink, so we’ll see how that one goes!
Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
This is the bonus product included in this month’s box.
Although I don’t use facial wipes daily (that would create too much extra waste), I do use them sometimes when it’s late and I’m really exhausted.
I’ve actually already tried out a few wipes. Since I have sensitive skin, I can confidently say that these wipes truly are gentle enough for those with sensitive skin. I didn’t experience any irritation even around the eye area.
Now, I don’t wear waterproof mascara (what the brand claims to be able to remove), but I do wear other waterproof makeup like eyeliner. I found that I had to wipe over the area a lot for it to remove the liner. But it easily removed my mineral makeup foundation.
I’m not blown away by these wipes, but they’re okay!
Final Verdict: 8/10
I’m trying to save some money, so I’ve made the decision to cut one of my subscriptions – either to Topbox or Loose Button’s Luxe Box. I’ll give each at least another month before I make the final cut.
Did you get the March Topbox? What did you get? What do you think of the products I got?
