Essie Make Some Noise is from the Neon 2015 Collection that comes out at the end of May, according to the official press release I posted earlier.
(In my Quick Look post, I also shared bottle shots and swatches of all the six shades on a nail wheel, in case you wanted to see an overview.)
Essie Make Some Noise is a lagoon blue, and I’m pretty bummed that, despite my best efforts, I wasn’t able to accurately capture the colour with my camera or even with my phone’s camera.
(Heck, even Essie’s own promotional images make it look like this colour, yet trust me, in person, Essie Make Some Noise is way prettier! Haha, so the noise you’ll make when you wear it will include squeals of delight, but when you try photographing it, you may make a sound like “ARGGH!” Hehehe! Then again, if you have a newer camera, maybe you’ll have better luck than me. Hope so!)
Please keep in mind that Essie Make Some Noise is more vibrant, more tropical, and brighter than it appears in my photos here. It is not like a primary blue or like Essie Mesmerize. It’s like an ocean blue.
Nevertheless, I still decided to post my photos in this review because, as usual, I go into detail about the formula, the finish, and the application. That information may still be of value to you.
(Oh, and I have been slacking off big time with using cuticle oil. Not that I ever used it regularly, but in the photos taken with artificial lighting, on that day I photographed my nails, haha, you can see the dry cuticles much better. Maybe I’ll apply some cuticle oil before I go to bed tonight, although today they don’t look at ragged as they did then. The weather is a lot more humid today, I guess.)
P.S. On the weekend, I published two blog posts that you may want to check out: the OPI Brights Collection Press Release and how Maybelline is celebrating their 100th anniversary (plus there’s a lot of makeup history at the bottom of that post).

Essie Make Some Noise Review
As I said in my introduction, I struggled to capture the true colour of Make Some Noise by Essie. So, allow me to describe it with words to give you a better visual of what to expect.
Even though it’s part of the neon collection, it’s far from being a retina-burning neon. That being said, I’ve never come across a true neon blue that was so shockingly bright that looked like it might glow in the dark. (Even if you look at blue highlighter markers in the stationery stores, they don’t seem that bright, either. However, when you look at yellows, oranges, greens, and pinks, that’s a whole other story!)
It doesn’t bother me that Make Some Noise isn’t a blindingly bright neon because it’s one of the most beautiful blue nail polishes. It is a sassy, vibrant, lagoon blue. It’s not a flat, dull, or primary blue.
When you see it in person, you’ll know what I mean. It’s tropical, summery, and it may even make you feel an intense urge to go swimming in the lake.
It’s the punch of colour that makes your nails wink! (For me, this has the Wow Factor. To give you an idea of how much I love this particular shade of blue, let me tell you something: When I first received the Essie Neon 2015 Collection, even though there was a lime and a teal, this green nailphile zeroed in on this blue. I knew that it’d be the first one I’d want to wear! That’s saying a lot!)
Make Some Noise by Essie has a creme formula, but it’s not flat.
There’s something really lively about it, and it dries to a shiny finish by itself without a top coat. (Of course, if you want the polish to dry fast like I do, reach for a glossy quick-drying top coat.)
Application & Formula
It has a winning formula that glides on easily and smoothly. Plus it’s very pigmented. You only need two coats to get full coverage, so I’m a happy camper!
Does It Stain Your Nails?
I’ve only had the Essie Neon 2015 Collection for four days, and I painted my nails with this polish just a couple of days ago. Since I don’t swatch polishes, take them off, swatch another, take it off, etc., I actually wear all my manicures for at least a full day. But when I fall for a nail polish, I often wear it for a few days and even a week straight.
I’m still wearing Essie Make Some Noise today, but when I remove it, I will update this section to comment on if it stained my nails or not.
Edit: After removing Essie Make Some Noise, I noticed that the blue went all over my skin and cuticles. It looked like scary Smurf Fingers, but after lathering up my hands with soap, rinsing, and repeating for three to four times, the majority of the blue came off. It didn’t stain my nails blue, but I wear OPI Nail Envy as my base coat, and it does a great job at preventing stains. Also, it only took one hand-washing to get rid of the blue on my fingers and cuticles. No lasting staining, thank goodness! 🙂
Final Verdict: 9.5/10
Judging by how I was drooling all over the place and gushing about how this is a Wow Polish, you probably could already predict that my final score would be an A+. 🙂 This polish is so beautiful, and as a nail blogger, I feel sad that I couldn’t convey through photos just how pretty this polish is. It’s as though the lens can’t handle such beauty! Hehe!
I highly recommend Essie Make Some Noise!
What are some blues in your collection that have the Wow Factor? Do you know of any company that has produced a blue nail polish that’s blindingly bright? (If so, please tell me because I’d want to check it out.)
